There have been a number of concerns (and, on occasion, unacceptable verbal abuse) from patients about delays in obtaining their tablets and other medication from pharmacies.

Many prescriptions are now being sent electronically to pharmacies. This means that SOME of your medication may be ready much quicker than in the past.

However, only some prescriptions can be issued quickly. If there is any problem with your request, we will have to investigate this and this can take time. For example, a medication may be unavailable or require a special order. There may be new guidance about a drug, or your condition or medication may have not been reviewed recently, sometimes because you have not attended for a necessary review.

SO…if you are ordering repeat medication you must allow three full working days (72 working hours) before being able to pick up ALL of your drugs.

Please do not take your frustrations out on surgery or pharmacy staff. This is how it is!! As long as you order your medication in plenty of time you should have no problems at all.
